HŪG is the Santa Monica-based ceramic studio founded by Seya and Taylor Hug. Rooted in the contrasting worlds that shaped them — Seya’s years in Switzerland and Japan, influenced by his father and kickboxing legend Andy Hug, and Taylor’s upbringing in her father’s mechanic shop in Texas — HŪG creates functional ceramics that balance refinement and rawness. Each piece begins as a single volume and is deconstructed, reassembled, or cut to explore the tension between mass and void. The resulting forms distill both modern and ancient qualities through materials and silhouettes. HŪG create's objects that cultivate connection and meaning — pieces that hold space for new memories in the homes they inhabit.
